1. To provide opportunities for the representatives of older people to meet together to promote information exchange and networking.
2. To promote positive attitudes to ageing.
3. To carry out research in to relevant issues and ensure that this is fed into the policy and decision making process.
4. To disseminate good practice in engagement with older people and facilitate discussion and consultation on national and local documents, working alongside a wide range of service providers in the planning, development delivery and review of local services.
5. To support the development of member groups and individuals within these groups.
6. To represent the wider community of older people by sending representatives to key county-wide meetings such as the Bucks OPPB, and to regional meetings of Better Government for Older People.
7. To monitor and comment on the successful implementation of the Bucks Older People's Strategy action plans.
8. To enable local older people's groups to enhance communication between organisations and users and potential users of their services. (Organisations such as the Primary Care Trust (PCTs), District Councils, Hospital Trusts, voluntary and commercial).
